Distributed service placement in hierarchical fog environments

The fog computing paradigm emerged as a promising solution to realize deployment of large-scale Internet Things (IoT) environments and low latency real-time services. It leverages large number resource-constrained, heterogeneous compute nodes distributed across vast geographical areas located closer users data sources, compared the cloud which is usually at centers, far from IoT devices. In an infrastructure environment with interplay nodes, there need for efficient placement services satisfy resource requirements well improve various factors such node utilization, network computation cost, communication energy consumption, response time, availability, load balancing. this paper, we propose scalable, low-overhead, fully approach select cost-efficient node, considering both costs, set prospective host given application service. We have implemented in simulation its performance several approaches along centralized approach. © 2022 Elsevier Science. All rights reserved.
